Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Gigi Simbulan: “Yes, Baliwag is on the Right Track!”

In a heartwarming message before government officials, businessmen, coop advocates and guests at the launching of the Baliwag Go Negosyo, Ms. Gigi Simbulan, President of the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. powerfully ended her inspirational message by declaring that “Baliwag is on the Right Track!”

Ms. Simbulan, as President of the Bulacan Chamber, is one of the prime movers in supporting the Micro Small Medium Enterprises in the whole province. It was also during her stint when Bulacan’s Business Chamber was able to operate the first Negosyo Center in the province.

Affirming DTI Central Luzon Regional Director  Judith Angeles, she recognized the young dynamic and energetic officials like Congressman Apol Pancho, Mayor Ferdie Estrella and Coun. Ding Nicolas. “They made sure new things  are introduced and implemented quickly,” she added.

As Mayor Ferdie always say when he was just forming the Baliwag Chamber at the same time, negotiating for a Negosyo Center, it is quite ironic that Baliwag is the center of commerce but it does not have a Negosyo Center; a Baliwagenya President of the Bulacan Chamber but Baliwag itself doen’t have a chamber of its own.

“This is the 8th Negosyo Center in Bulacan but I usually sent other officers to attend the launch, Baliwag is different, I cannot miss it,” she quipped.

In her speech she shared how her husband, Mr. Rene Simbulan, started the Simbulan Industries Philippines with a borrowed capital from his parents amounting 5,000 pesos. The couple built a company for 18 years until it was redounded to a mere ash when its factory in Baliwag burned while, manufacturing lot contract of furniture for then refurbishing Dusit Hotel Makati.

It was after the fire when they founded the construction company, RGSP Inc., As the saying, when people are resilient, there is no way but to go up. Like a phoenix rising frim the ashes, The Simbulan Group of Companies was able to stand and fly again meeting all of its obligations to customers. Even stronger, it is now employing close to 3,000 workforce deployed all over Metro Manila for their various projects.  The group bagged contracts for Shangrila Boracay, Edsa and Fort; Andrew Tan’s Resorts World Manila; and Renaissance New World.

Baliwag DTI Go Negosyo Center will soft launch on June 28.

The Local Government of Baliwag and the Department of Trade and Industry jointly agreed to soft launch the center on June 28 even if the ViP Restrooms are still being constructed to be able to begin the service for the benefit of the business community. While the Business Permits and Licensing Office upgrades its list of business establishments with delinquency, the opening will benefit them as application of new DTI Registration will be done in Baliwag, saving them material time to go to Malolos. The Negosyo Center will also be home to the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Baliwag, Inc, the recognized main business group recognized by the local government.

DTI postponed the scheduled visit of Sen. Bam Aquino as it anticipates the launch of Baliwag’s BOSS Center in line with its Seating Pretty ang Tax Payer sa Baliwag Program which was created thru an Executive Order signed by Mayor Ferdie Estrella. The EO is similar to the JMC issued by DILG, DTI and DoF aimed at streamlining the application and release of Business Permit.

Baliwag was rated this year by the Central Luzon Corridor Foundation with a 91% score from its previous rating of 79%

Business Permits and Licensing Office reminds Lessors and Doctor Clinics to secure separate Business Permits

In a move to implement the rulings of the Bureau of Local Government Finance regarding the separate application of Business Permits for Doctor’s Clinic, the Business Permits and Licensing Office quickly planned out the sending of material information and notices to affected groups. In the BLGF resolution, doctor clinics were expressedly identified as materially non-exempted from securing business permit as the LGU must also be able to recoup its investments to serve the people well.

In the latest filing submitted to the National Competitiveness Council, around 428 Private Doctors are active in the hospitals as consultants and hospitalists. Consultants usually have a clinic where they meet patients for their appointment.

Meanwhile, ALL LESSORS OF PROPERTIES such as lots, buildings, stalls, franchised public market and space rentals are NOT exempted as well from securing the business permit. With the computerization system, it now unravel over a thousand of unregistered businesses,as many of the owners deliberately snobbed any efforts to get a business permit. It is estimated that about 30 to 50million conservatively are wasted for non collection in the absence of a system and drive to improve its revenue programs. If not complied, violators may be ordered close and pay the fine

Revenue programs are regulary considered by the National Competitiveness Council as an indicator of the local economy’s robustness. Because of this, Baliwag Ranked 1040 out of 1245 municipalities because of its poor NCC data submission.

BANCASSURANCE, THIRD PARTY INSURANCE

Cognizant of the fact that bancassurance are exempted from securing permit, still, the Business Permits and License Office sent notices to insurance firms to shake them into what’s been a long period of status quo. Commercial Banks were invited by Mayor Ferdie Estrella to remind them of their obligations to pay taxes observing the rule of the Bureau of Internal Revenue that earnings from loans negotiated in the branch even if it requires approval from a higher or senior manager must

Taking the road-less traveled, Baliwag welcomes today Seal of Good Local Governance Evaluators

The Municipal Government of Baliwag welcomes evaluators from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Inc. for the scheduled Seal of Good Local Governance validation today. The Local government will be assessed on four core sectoral areas such as Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Public Order and Public Safety. The LGU must pass all four core areas, not missing even a criterion under those four sectors. Meanwhile, there are three essential areas that must be met including environment, business friendliness and competitiveness and tourism, arts & culture.

Baliwag failed to receive the most coveted seal of good local governance for the past years. Last year, DRT, Plaridel, Guiguinto, Calumpit and San Rafael received the Seal.

Baliwag Mayor Ferdie Estrella encourages all employees and Baliwagenyos to support the bid.

The seal will be one of the measures that will be used to ensure that a higher level of service standard is in place, translated to serbisyong may malasakit.

May the odds be ever in your favor, Team Serbisyong may Malasakit.

DTI’s GO Negosyo to situate in Baliwag

With a bustling trade and commerce dating back during the Spanish era, Baliuag evolved to be not just a center of commerce but also a hub for education, servicing a wide-base of market covering (12) twelve Bulacan towns and (5) five from Pampanga.

Until now, Baliuag stands side by side with the City of Malolos as recognized priority centers under the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022. It means Baliuag is a recognized hub where commerce expected to explode exponentially.

Unfortunately, these strengths were totally disregarded for so long. The market is growing only naturally, without any effort to flex its muscles.

HOSTING DTI GO NEGOSYO

With DTI GO NEGOSYO here in Baliuag, applying for a trade name will be an arms reach. Our SME’s will have the chance to benefit from various technical assistance on developing local products. Baliwagenyos will be given the chance to improve their packaging and create premium for their products following national and export-quality products.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Mr. Bienvenido Gonzales was recently elected to lead the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Baliwag after Mayor Ferdie moved to organize a group that will represent the best interest of the business community.  The chamber will co-locate with DTI and the newly-created Baliwag Investment Protection Unit.
