Bagong bayani kung ituring ang mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na nagtratrabaho sa ibang bansa upang mabigyan ng mas magandang kinabukasan ang kanilang pamilya.  Maraming Baliwagenyo ang patuloy na sumusubok na mangibang bansa kung kaya’t isa ito sa mga sektor na nais pagtuunan ng Pamahalaang Bayan ng Baliwag sa pangunguna ni Mayor Ferdie Estrella.  Kaya’t napagdesisyunan ni Mayor Ferdie na bumuo ng isang organisasyon para sa mga OFWs upang sila rin ay makonsulta sa mga programa at serbisyo na maaaring ipagkaloob sa kanila.  Upang simulan ito, ay inaanyayahan ang mga datihan na at mga aktibo na OFW na magparehistro sa pamamagitan ng link na ito:

Buhay OFW: OFW, Nagpasalamat kay Mayor Ferdie

Bagong bayani kung ituring ang mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na nagtratrabaho sa ibang bansa upang mabigyan ng mas maganda na kinabukasan ang kanilang pamilya.  Maraming Baliwagenyo ang patuloy na sumusubok na mangibang bansa kung kaya’t isa ito sa mga sektor na nais pagtuunan ng Pamahalaang Bayan ng Baliwag sa pangunguna ni Mayor Ferdie Estrella.

Isa si Gng. Irene Pleno Timbang sa mga sumubok na mangibang bansa. Ayon sa kanya, ang mabigyan nang magandang kinabukasan ang kanyang pamilya ang dahilan kung bakit pinili niyang mawalay at makipagsapalaran sa ibang bansa.  Nadestino siya sa Saudi Arabia bilang isang household worker. Ngunit sa kasamaang palad, siya ay hindi siya sinuwerte. Makaraan lamang ang isang buwan, nagkasakit si Gng. Timbang na naging dahilan upang siya ay maospital.  Sa ikalawang pagkakaospital, ang kaniyang pamilya ay humingi na nang tulong kay Mayor Ferdie Estrella noong Lunes, Disyembre 04, 2017. Personal na dumulog ang kaniyang ama kay Mayor Ferdie at isinalaysay ang kondisyon ng kaniyang anak sa Saudi.  Mabilis ang naging tugon ni Mayor Ferdie sa kahilingan ni G. Pleno, inatasan niya ang Public Employment Service Office na agaran na makipagugnayan sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) upang mabilis na mapabalik si Gng. Timbang dito sa Pilipinas.  Nagkausap ang pamilya ni Gng. Timbang at ang OWWA Region III upang mailahad ang kanyang kasalukuyang kondisyon at kung ano ang nais nila na mangyari.  Hiniling ng pamilya na makauwi na si Gng. Timbang.  Isang magandang balita ang natanggap ng kaniyang pamilya nang sila ay sabihan na makakauwi na ang kanilang kapamilya ng Martes, Disyembre 05, 2017 sa ganap na ika-10 ng gabi.

Ngayong araw ng Lunes, Disyembre 11, 2017, bumisita si Gng. Rowena at ang kanyang ama kay Mayor Ferdie Estrella para personal na magpasalamat sa mabilisang tulong na kanyang natanggap. Nag-alok din si Mayor Ferdie na ang kanyang tanggapan ay bukas sa kaniyang pangangailan. Sa katunayan, nakatakda siya na makatangap ng Foot Spa with Manicure and Pedicure Kit mula sa Public Employment Service Office na lubos na makatutulong upang siya ay makapagsimula. Nagpapasalamat naman ang Pamahalaang Bayan sa napakalaking tulong ng OWWA sa paguwi ni Gng. Timbang.

Isa ito sa mga kadahilanan kung bakit si Mayor Ferdie ay nais na magkaroon na nang OFW Desk na ilalagay sa PESO upang may agaran na pupuntahan ang mga OFW o kanilang pamilya tungkol sa mga serbisyo at programa na maaari nila makuha.  Inatasan na din nya ang pagprofile sa mga OFW na naninirahan sa Baliwag.

100 BALIWAGENYOS RECEIVED KABUHAYAN STARTER KIT

Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella led the awarding of the DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit last Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Municipal Conference Room. A total of 100 beneficiaries who attended different skills training such as Dressmaking, Bread and Pastry Production, Food and Meat Processing, Massage Therapy and Foot Spa with Manicure and Pedicure and Soap, Fabric Conditioner, Perfume and Dishwashing Liquid Making have been granted the starter kits. This program aims to improve the lives of Baliwagenyos by giving them “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan” in the name of Mayor Ferdie’s brand of governance, Serbisyong may Malasakit. The event was organized by the Municipality of Baliwag thru the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The event was formally opened with an opening remarks from Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella by encouraging and inspiring the beneficiaries thru his true life stories. Also he said “Mas magiging masaya ako kapag dumating ako sa inyong barangay at sasabihin niyong Mayor Ferdie nakakatuwa, ito na po yung negosyong sinimulan natin noong November 13”. Mr. Lauro Villanueva- Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE represented Ms. May Lynn Gozun, Chief LEO of DOLE by sharing words of wisdom “Ang tao bigyan mo ng isda kakain ng isa o dalawang araw, turuan mong mangisda kakain siya ng pangmatagalan, sana ito ay maging katuparan ng inyong mga kailangan at ito ay magsilbing panimula para sa inyo”. He also congratulated all the beneficiaries of the starter kits in behalf of DOLE Bulacan Provincial Office

In an interview with one of the beneficiaries- Ms. Jocelyn Lora from Brgy. Virgen delas Flores, beneficiary of the Soap, Fabconditioner, Perfume and Dishwashing Liquid Making Kit “Ang panimulang starter kit ay gagawin ko pong pangkabuhayan ko at pangtulong ko sa aking pamilya kasi po ako ay isang single at Person with Disability (PWD) na kailangang maghanapbuhay para po sa aking mga pamangkin at mga apo. Nagpapasalamat po ako kay Mayor Ferdie, DOLE at PESO sa binigay nilang panimulang puhunan” she said. Ms. Carmelita Fiel from Brgy. Hinukay – beneficiary of Dressmaking Kit said, “Malaking tulong sa akin yung starter kit kasi lima yung anak ko, manganganak pa ako at pasulpot-sulpot lang ang trabaho ng asawa ko. Maraming salamat sa PESO, DOLE at kay Mayor na nagkaroon siya ng programang ganito na malaking tulong ang maiibibigay sa bawat isa sa amin taga-Baliwag.”

Ms. Eva Rose Cruz from Brgy. Tarcan, a beneficiary of Meat and Food Processing- “Nagpapasalamat po ako sa naibigay ng PESO, DOLE at kay Mayor Ferdie Estrella, malaking bagay po ito para sa akin at malaking tulong po ito para sa anak ko dahil ang asawa ko po ay isang magsasaka at ito pong starter kit ay pwede kong gawing araw-araw na hanapbuhay hanggang mapalago ko po ito’’.

The starter kits are truly beneficial as they are soon to start their respective enterprises.  The Municipality of Baliwag thru the leadership of Mayor Ferdie Estrella fully supports this type of program uplifting the quality of lives of the Baliwagenyos.

Entrepreneurial Development Training conducted for Skills Training Program Beneficiaries

The two day Entrepreneurial Development Training (EDT) was conducted by the Municipality of  Baliwag thru the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) last October 11 & 12, 2017 at the Municipal Conference Room, 2ndFlr, Municipal Annex Bldg., Bagong Nayon, Baliwag, Bulacan. The first day of the EDT was attended by the beneficiaries, mainly from the Bread and Pastry Production, Food and Meat Processing, Soap, Fabric Conditioner, Perfume, and Dishwashing Liquid Making, Massage Therapy and Foot Spa with Manicure & Pedicure, and Dressmaking.  This is in preparation for all the beneficiaries as they are scheduled to receive starter kits from the Municipality of Baliwag and Department of Labor and Employment.

Mr. Nedy Roxas – PESO Consultant, warmly gave his opening remarks and mention how this training would be beneficial as a way to start their own business. “Maswerte kayo dahil ang ating Mayor Ferdie Estrella ay masipag na nakikipagtulungan sa DOLE Bulacan para mabigyan ang mamamayan ng Baliwag ng mga programa na makakatulong para tayo ay kumita at magkaroon ng sariling kabuhayan.” – he added.

Mr. Lauro S. Villanueva – Senior Labor and Employment Officer from DOLE Bulacan was invited as the resource speaker. He started by briefly discussing why business entrepreneurship is very important.  He also provided useful tips that they can use as future entrepreneurs.  According to him, basic bookkeeping is important in every transaction. He also shared key factors why consumers are hesitant to purchase products.  In addition, he taught the participants how to properly market the products by means of branding, good packaging and promotions. “Kailangan natin maging mahusay na negosyante para maging malago at maganda ang ating negosyo, nakasuporta kami (DOLE) sa mga tulong na inyong kakailanganin.”– he added.

The second day of the EDT was attended by the beneficiaries from the Bread and Pastry Production, Food and Meat Processing, and Soap, Fabric Conditioner, Perfume, and Dishwashing Liquid Making.  Mr. Mikko Alfonso – Project Development Officer I, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) discussed “Expanding One’s Business through Online Marketing.”  According to Mr. Alfonso, online marketing is the key to helping one’s small business to grow.  Building a website to developing an online brand are some of the powerful ways in which digital marketing strategies can help to connect with new customers, generate leads and sell their products or services more efficiently.  With the aid of social media, products can be introduced to a wider customer/client.  He also shared some techniques that everybody must know before they start to sell online.

The afternoon session was facilitated by the representatives from the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO).  Mr. Lexter Catalan – Project Development Officer II, PCEDO discussed the topic “Labeling and Packaging Trends and Innovation.” As discussed by Mr. Catalan, the packaging of a product to include the graphic and physical design is very important.  Products must be packaged well to increase shelf life especially for food products and ultimately improve its marketability. Ms. Camille F. Madrazo – Project Development Officer I, PCEDO discussed the Food and Drugs – License to Operate: Online Application on Monitoring Assistance. Part of Ms. Madrazo’s discussion is the Republic Act 10611: Implementing Rules and Regulations of Food Safety Act 201.  This act is to strengthen the Food Safety Regulatory in the country to protect consumer health and facilitate market access of local and food products, and for other purposes.

The two day training is very beneficial to the participants as they are soon to start their respective enterprises.  The Municipality of Baliwag thru the leadership of Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella fully supports all capability development programs intended to those who want to start a business.

Orientation of OWWA and PESO Services for the Overseas Filipino Workers

The Municipality of Baliwag under the leadership of Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella recognizes the sacrifices of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to provide for their respective families. The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Baliwag is tasked to profile active and returning OFWs including their immediate family members. Thru the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), an Orientation for OWWA Services was held last October 20, 2017 at the Baliwag Star Arena, Pagala, Baliwag, Bulacan. It was attended by 47 individuals thru their respective barangay captains.  This event also aims to:

  • Familiarize the OFWs and their family members of the programs and services of OWWA and PESO that they may avail;
  • Facilitate the profiling of the OFWs in each barangay to identify the right programs and services that PESO can offer;
  • Put up an OFW Desk at PESOBaliwag; &
  • Revive the OFW Family Circle

The event was formally opened with an opening remarks from Ms. Jennelyn G. Marcelo, OIC-PESO Manager. She also took the opportunity to discuss various employment programs for the Baliwagenyos such asreferral and placement, employment guidance and counseling, local recruitment activity/special recruitment activity and skills training and livelihood programs and other special programs like job fairs and one stop shop processing.  She also encouraged them to avail the Mobile Passport Service as it will prioritize OFWs or those who are interested to work overseas.

Ms. MaribethNucup, Family Welfare Officer-OWWA,discussed what benefits that they may avail by being a member of the institution.  OWWA is a lead government agency tasked to protect and promote the welfare and well-being of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), an attached agency of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and a membership institution. Several scholarship programs for OFWs and their dependents were discussed.

In addition, reintegration programs such as enterprise development and loan program were also shared by Ms. Nucup and other benefits for OWWA members.

The Municipality of Baliwag aims to revive the OFW Family Circle.  This organization will provide several opportunities for OFWs and their dependents to engage in various social interventions that would enhance their capabilities and enrich their present social and economic status. Moreover, it has a goal of building a common understanding of the current state, conditions and challenges as well as to identify the OFC’s core strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats.  In the next coming days, PESO Baliwag will coordinate to the barangays to encourage the establishment of OFW Family Circle in the barangay level and eventually elect officers in the municipal level.

Graduation Ceremony of the Community Based Skills Training Program

The most awaited Graduation Ceremony of the Community Based Skills Training Program was held last October 20, 2017 from 9:00 am- 12:00 noon at the Baliwag Star Arena, Pagala, Baliwag, Bulacan. A total of 112 beneficiaries graduated in the different skills training conducted by PESO Baliwag – 31 graduates from Bread and Pastry, 22 graduates from Meat and Food Processing, 13 graduates from Beauty Care and 46 graduates from Perfume, Soap, Fabric Conditioner, Candle, Dishwashing Liquid Making. This program will not be possible without the support of the Municipality of Baliwag under the leadership of Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella. The skills training programs is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Provincial Youth, Sports and Employment Development Office (PYSEDO).

The event was formally opened with an opening remarks from Mr. Nedy Roxas, PESO Consultant “Ang pagsisimula sa maliit ay kayang palakihin, kung tayo ay may sipag, tiyaga at magandang pamamahala sa inyong napiling kurso para makilala kayo hindi lang dito sa Baliwag – maging sa buong mundo at isa kayo sa maging dangal ng Baliwag” he said. Mr. Lee Edward “Dingdong” Nicolas – Councilor, congratulates the attendees for successfully graduating and he said “Naniniwala po ako na pwede ninyong maabot ang inyong mga pangarap, pinakamasarap at pinakamagandang buhay sa ating bayan. Sana po sa darating na panahon ay magkikita tayo at isa sa taga-Baliwag ang pinakamagaling sa larangang kanyang pinili”. Ms. Flordeliza Tamayo- Division Chief of PESO Malolos delivered her message in behalf of Ms. Elizabeth Alonzo- Department Head of PYSEDO.  She encouraged the beneficiaries to continuously nurture their learning and used it as a stepping stone to put up a livelihood that may provide them an additional income for their family.

In an interview with one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Rufino De Guzman- Secretary of Change Politics Movement (CPM) “Thankful kami kasi nasama yung mga leaders namin sa training, malaking tulong po kasi mostly sa mga umattend ng free training ay mga ilaw ng tahanan so bukod dun sa hanapbuhay ng mga partners nila maisheshare din nila ung mga knowledge nila sa mga anak nila pati na rin sa mga kakilala at kabaranggay nila”. Ms. Zenaida Cabigao- a 34 years old housewife and currently works in a spa and wellness center “Malaki pong pagpapasalamat ko sa PESO Baliwag at kay Mayor dahil isa po ako sa naging benepisyaryo ng free skills training dahil nagkaroon po ako Massage Therapist NC II dahil nung nasa trabaho po ako wala po akong certificate ngayon maipagmamalaki ko sa iba na may Massage  Therapist NC II ako”, she said. “Maganda yung naging impact sa akin ung free skills training, bukod sa dagdag kaalaman ay nakatulong din ito sa aming pangkabuhayan, masarap pong ibahagi sa iba at yung mga anak ko natututo na rin po sa akin” said by the beneficiaries of Bread and Pastry named Ms. Erlinda Gerado.

All the graduates of this program are being encouraged to coordinate with PESO Baliwag to facilitate assistance either to wage employment or self-employment.

1st Batch of Baliwagenyos Graduate from Contact Center Services

Twenty five (25) graduates from Baliwag, Bulacan attended and received their certificates in the graduation rites today, September 28, 2017 @ 10:00 in the Audio Visual Room, Municipality of Bustos, Bulacan. The graduation rite is simultaneous with the Hilot Wellness Training conducted by PESO Bustos.

 

This batch of graduates completed the training for the Contact Center Services sponsored by Bagong Henerasyon Party List under the leadership of Representative Bernadette Herrera-Dy in partnership with the Municipality of Baliwag thru the Public Employment Service Office and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Mayor Ferdie Estrella always gives his support to all the programs that will give employment or livelihood to his constituents. Mayor Arnel Mendoza – Municipality of Bustos, gave his opening remarks and his heartfelt appreciation to the Bagong Henerasyon Party List who has been very supportive in giving livelihood training programs to their municipality. “I hope na lahat kayo ay nakapasa (graduates) at the same ay mabuksan ang mga oportunidad dahil sa ginawa ninyong training na ito” – he added.

 

Ms. Amie Bernardo – representative from the Bagong Henerasyon Party List congratulates the graduates of the Contact Center Services and Hilot Wellness. She also spoke on behalf of Representative Bernadette Herrera-Dy who extends her greeting and encouraged the graduates to look for a job and put into practice what they have learned in the training programs. She also asks the graduates to update them with their employment status in the future.

 

 

Ms. Jennelyn Marcelo – OIC PESO Manager, Baliwag extends her gratitude to the Bagong Henerasyon Partylist for sponsoring the Contact Center Services for Baliwagenyos. She also congratulated all the graduates, some of them are presently working and the others will be referred to our BPO partners. PESO Bustos thru the effort of its PESO Manager, Ms. Lalee De Leon has conducted several training programs sponsored by the party list. Contact Center Services is presently being conducted at the Municipality of Bustos.

Ms. Arlene Robles, one of the trainees from Baliwag shared her success story as one of the graduates of Contact Center Services. She is currently under training as an ESL Teacher with a company based here in Baliwag, Bulacan. “Before po ako mag-attend ng training thru PESO Baliwag, ang main goal ko talaga ay makapasok sa Call Center (company). After ng training, naboost yung self-confidence ko na makapag-apply and luckily natanggap ako as ESL Teacher na nagtuturo ng English sa mga bata from Taiwan and China.” – she added.

The Hilot Wellness training program will be available for the Baliwagenyos also sponsored by the Bagong Henerasyon Party List. Applicants must be a high school graduate and must be 18 years old and above. PESO Baliwag together with its partners continues to give the Baliwagenyos “Serbisyong May Malasakit.” Congratulations Graduates!

One of the Happy Kaarawan Goals of Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella is to give the Baliwagenyos ‘Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan” by sponsoring a Job Fair and One Stop Shop Processing.  It was held last last September 06, 2017 (8:00 am – 4:00 pm) at The Event Center, SM City Baliwag, Bulacan. This program is constantly included among the major activities conducted for the week-long celebration of Mayor Ferdie’s birthday. The event was organized by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Provincial Youth, Sports and Employment Development Office (PYSEDO), and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).  Forty-five (45) local companies and 2 overseas agencies participated with their respective representatives who conducted the interviews and assessments.

The event was formally opened with an opening remarks from Architect Andrew Cristobal, Mall Manager of SM City Baliwag. “Happiness is a choice, career is your choice and we just provide you the opportunities”, he said. Ms. Flordeliza Tamayo – Division Chief of PESO Malolos gave a message to all the eager job seekers.  She considers the Baliwagenyos to be lucky because we have a supportive mayor who is always willing to help them get employed. She also delivered the message on behalf of Ms. Elizabeth Alonzo – Department Head, PYSEDO who extends her birthday greeting to Mayor Ferdie Estrella and wishes the applicants good luck with their job applications. Ms. May Lynn Gozun – Chief Labor and Employment Officer (DOLE-Bulacan) gave her heartfelt gratitude to the employers and to Municipality of Baliwag. Ms. Gozun also encouraged them to also consider entrepreneurial activities since DOLE also provides livelihood programs to those who are interested.  A total of 331 out of the 912 registered applicants were Hired on the Spot (HOTS).  They must submit the requirements needed by the companies in order to continue the hiring process and be able to start their employment

In an interview from one of the job seekers, Ms. Maria Camille Santos,  “Sobrang madaming natulungan ‘tong Job Fair na makapagapply sa mga companies na hindi na luluwas pa lalung lalo na sa mga fresh graduate natulad ko at pati na rin sa mga undergraduate.”

In addition, a One Stop Shop Processing was conducted in order to assist the applicants in their job hunting by securing their professional valid IDs and other documents that can be used for their employment.  The following government agencies were invited: Social Security Service (SSS), Municipal Treasury Department, Philippine Postal Corporation, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and Philippine National Police-Baliwag.  A total of 89 applicants were able to secure documents from the respective invited government agencies.

Prior to this event, a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar and Anti-Illegal Recruitment in Persons Seminar was facilitated last September 5, 2017 at the Conference Room, Municipal Annex Building of the Municipality of Baliwag. This seminar aims to equip and prepare the applicants with job interviews and raise awareness on illegal recruitment activities. Mr. Glenn Paul Cruz – Youth Development Officer II, PYSEDO, discussed the importance of the Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar especially to the unemployed and first time applicants. He taught the participants how to create a powerful resume, how to ace an interview, and most importantly, he shared his previous personal experiences with regard to his job applications.

Mr. Lauro S. Villanueva– Senior Labor and Employment Officer) discussed preventive approach against illegal recruitment activities and trafficking in persons especially to those interested to work overseas. He also mentioned key factors to determine illegal agencies, fees that must not collected, false visa promises, and protections that an applicant must know.

Truly, the Baliwagenyos are blessed to have a Mayor who prioritizes employment facilitation programs to give his constituents “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan.”  Another “Serbisyong May Malasakit” provided for the Baliwagenyos, Mayor Ferdie together with the PESO staff will always be  #maagap  #maaasahan #mahusay #magiliw #magkakatuwang.

The week-long celebration of Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella’s Happy Kaarawan Goals officially started last Saturday, September 02, 2017 with the Mobile Passport Service. This program was spearheaded by the Municipality of Baliwag thru PESO. This was in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) headed by its Team Leader/Foreign Service Staff Employee II, Ms Princessa Tabago together with 34 DFA officials. The Local Civil Registrar (LCR) headed by Ms. Dolores Lumabas, Municipal Civil Registrar and Commission of Elections (COMELEC) headed by Ms. Ma. Gina L. Llave, Election Officer IV also participated as support group in case additional documents are needed by the passport applicants.

 

Mayor Ferdie in line with his brand of governance “Serbisyong May Malasakit” is to bring government services closer to the Baliwagenyos.  One of the services is the Mobile Passport Service which gives Baliwagenyos a convenient passport application and renewal without having to go the main consular affairs office saving time, money, and energy.

 

The passport applicants submitted their application forms and documentary requirements as early as June for the personal appearance on September 02, 2017 at the Baliwag Star Arena.  The processing of the 925 applications started at around 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.  A total of 830 applications were processed and approved by the DFA in just 20-30 minutes for only P 1,200.00 as processing fee with additional P 150.00 for the courier service

 

Positive feedbacks were generated from the applicants.  Mr. Mark Villaseñor from Tilapayong, Baliwag said, “Mas okay ang ginawa ng PESO, mas naging madali at malapit ang pagkuha ng passport. Marami pong salamat Mayor.  Mas mabilis sya ngayon, hindi katulad sa Manila na mahaba ang pila.”  Ms. Rica Guinco, “Okay naman ang service, mabilis saka mababait ang tao.  Malaki ang natipid namin.  Thank you rin sa lahat ng nagorganize at sa ating Mayor dahil nagkaroon ng ganito na programa.”  Another beneficiary of this program is Mr. Ring Bautista, he said, “Thank you kay Mayor Ferdie at sa PESO, very accommodating ang mga tao at mabilis ang proseso.

STI COLLEGE BALIUAG’S FORMULA FOR REAL LIFE SUCCESS

In celebration of the annual National Job Placement Month which is a countrywide job placement program that has been designed solely for graduating students for their future employment, STI College Baliuag conducted a CAREER DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR: “POWER DRESSING, RESUME WRITING, and JOB INTERVIEW PREPARATION” on August 25, 2017 at STI College Gymnasium.

The seminar was well attended by the graduating students from the following courses: BS in Information Technology, BS in Business Management, BS in Accounting Technology, BS in Tourism Management and BS in Hospitality Management.  This activity is a component of the Enrollment to Employment System that aims to assist the student’s gain job market skills.  Dr. Corazon R. Cruz, Dean/Academic Head gave the welcome remarks and emphasized the importance of this activity.

Ms. Jennelyn G. Marcelo – OIC Manager of PESO Baliuag was invited as the resource speaker for the said event. She outlined key steps on how to dress appropriately and why appearance will make a good impact. She also showed sample pictures of must-wear clothing. Ms. Marcelo shared her tips on how to create a comprehensive resume and set of information that must be included. She emphasized that personal image is very important and that it only takes 7 seconds to make a first impression.  “You never get a second chance to make a first impression” – she shared. A positive impression will put you in an excellent position in the interview and will reflect whether you are fit for the job. She also discussed appropriate answers in an interview and follow-up questions that an applicant can ask as well as “dos and don’ts to remember in a job interview.”  To end her discussion, she shared a quotation from Confucius “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

Ms. Julie Ann C. De Lara, Guidance and Placement Coordinator thank all the students for their participation.  She also reminded them of their mock interview in order to assess what they have learned during the seminar.
