The Municipality of Baliwag thru the Public Employment Service Office in coordination with the Provincial Youth, Sports and Employment Development Office (PYSEDO) and  Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Baliwag Polytechnic College (BTech) conducted a community based training program for “Bread and Pastry Production” from May 15 – June 16, 2017 at the HRM Laboratory of BTech.  This program was based on the training regulations promulgated by TESDA. Its objective is to provide skills and training opportunities for the beneficiaries to make them employable or to promote entrepreneurial and self-employment.

Thirty (30) attendees have finished the 5 day course and will soon have their competency assessment for National Certificate (NCII). Ms. Ma. Sabina Cunanan – Trainer from TESDA have taught different techniques aligned from TESDA module from proper attire, measuring ingredients, how to use the baking equipment, and up to the cooking it to the oven.  The trainees baked lemon tarts, cream puffs, soft rolls, chocolate cookies, crinkles, and cakes.

There were licensed teacher who also joined this training program. It would help not only their teaching career but would also develop new skills as well as gain other source of income.

“This free training would help me for an extra income. Baking is one of my passion and I have learned a lot, I can make breads and cookies that I can personally sell or sell it through online” – Ms. Mariano (one of the trainees).

Qualified trainees will be provided starter kits in order to augment income with the vision of engaging them into a viable and self-employment undertaking uplifting the quality of their lives.
