Mayor Ferdie joined Sen. Legarda, Gov, Bulacan Mayors at Barasoain Church for Araw ng Kalayaan Rites.

Baliwag Mayor Ferdinand Estrella attended the Philippine Independence Rites at Barasoain Church, Malolos City this morning. By tradition, Bulacan Mayors join Capitol Officials every 12th of June, as Barasoain Church is one of the few identified locations where Flag Raising Rites must be conducted under the Heraldic Code of the Philippines. Luneta, Barasoain Church, Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, Malacanang, Congress, Supreme Court, Tomb of The Unknown Soliders andPinaglabanan Shrine in San Juan are the important sites mentioned in the code.

This year’s theme of celebration is “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabagong Sama-samang Balikatin.”

In Baliwag, Municipal Administrator Enrique Tagle represented Mayor Ferdie in the flag raising event at SM City Baliwag. He read a prepared speech for the Mayor but Tagle opened spontaneously with a powerful introduction about the sacrifices of our soldiers.

Atty John Robert Donesa President of Baliwag Polytechnic College was the guest speaker in the event. He delivered a bolder reminder to all that any meaning of independence shall lose if people will remain ignorant, irresponsible and non-chalant.
