In line with its commitment to provide real life education through the Enrollment to Employment System, STI College Baliuag in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office held a Job Fair and One Stop Shop Service on April 10, 2018 at STI College Building, Poblacion, Baliwag, Bulacan. The event was jointly organized by the Guidance and Placement Office and PESO’s Labor Market Information Unit which aims to help graduating students and alumni of the college land a suitable job.
STI’s program Enrollment to Employment System (E2E System) is a complete approach to human resource development which assists its students to get applicable education, job market skills, job preparedness, and job placement assistance.
Ms. Jennelyn G. Marcelo – OIC PESO Manager, warmly gave her opening remarks to the graduating students and representives of government agencies and companies that were invited to participate in the said event. She also shared that academic qualification or aptitude is very important but that is not the only requirement future employees are looking for. Likewise, attitude plays a key role to get the job that YOU desire!.
According to Dr. Corazon Cruz – Dean/Academic Head, the advocacy of STI is to provide Enrollment to Employment; they believe that it is one way that they can assist the students in their journey to find a job that’s why they keep on having this job placement program.
“I know it will help a lot (Job Fair). Of course, on behalf of STI College, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for gracing this day and visiting STI and of course with the set of employment positions that you have and encouragement you imparted to our students, I am very glad.” – she added.
In an interview with Ms. Julie Ann De Lara – Guidance and Placement Coordinator, she mentioned that as part of STI’s National Job Placement Month, they also conduct seminars such as Professional Development, Career Development, Personal Development, Resume Writing, Proper Dressing, and Interview Preparation. STI Baliuag has been conducting Job Fair for almost 3 years as part of their advocacy which is the E2E Program. This will also be an annual event as this provides employment for students and convenience through the one stop shop service.
Thirteen (13) companies participated together with their representatives and three (3) government agencies such as PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and PAG-IBIG participated. A total of 32 applicants (29.6%) were hired on the spot. Here are some interviews of successful hired applicants:
“For me, lalo na po sa mga fresh graduates, ang laki nang maitutulong para po sa amin and siguro may dagdag rin pong opportunity na madaling makahanap ng trabaho. Salamat po sa STI at sa Municipality of Baliwag sa pag-conduct ng event na ito, dahil hindi madaling makahanap ng trabaho.” – Ms. Christine Jave Waje from BS Business Management.
“For me malaking tulong siya kasi bilang fresh graduate kami, hindi naman agad na may mga trabaho na kami na makikita or makukuha so malaking tulong talaga siya sa amin and maganda din ung programa na ginagawa ng STI, yung pakikipag-partnership with companies and government agencies. Sana ipagpatuloy nila yung ganitong programa dahil marami talaga itong natutulungan.” – Mr. Jericho Hernandez from BS Business Management.
Indeed, a successful Job Fair and One Stop Shop Service by STI College of Baliuag and the Municipality of Baliwag – Public Employment Service Office.
